How to spot a scammer
Morgan Wallen is an amazing country singer. Though, I did not know this until I was scammed by a man pretending to be him and started listening to his music because of my acquaintance with this "Fake Morgan".
Fake Morgan was nice and constantly sent hearts. He was not kind. Kindness comes from the heart, and while Fake Morgan was trying to win my heart through friendship (new scam) he wasn't actually interested in getting to know me. Fake Morgan probably didn't read half of my messages, though to be fair, I sent a lot.
I SPAMMED a Scammer!
Looking back, it's funny and it taught me a unique lesson:
If you are a talker or texter, in this case,
Don't spam people!
In the beginning, Fake Morgan was friendly, but the more I spammed him (which scammer love you to do because it creates a false sense of intimacy) the more tired of me he became. The more "Long Suffering" he was. And not in the Biblical sense. He was suffering from the massive number of messages that I was constantly sending him because I am unemployed. And interested. He was cute. Or at lest the "stolen selfies" were cute. That's what scammers will do. They steal someone's identity and use online selfies to "prove" that they are that person.
With that long, run on sentence, you can kind of get a taste of what the Scammer went though.
Any sympathy? No? Good.
HOW TO SPOT A SCAM
1# THE SCAMMER WILL always ASK YOU TO BUY AN APPLE GIFT CARD FOR THEM
It might be for a repair, upgrade, bribe, or bill. APPLE GIFT CARD- BIG RED FLAG!
2# LONG TERM SCAM HAPPEN SOMETIMES
The scammer chatted with me for (5) FIVE DAYS before asking for money.
3#OVERLY AFFECTIONATE QUICKLY
This is a trap. They will constantly be sending hearts.
4# LOVER OR FRIEND
Before you say, "Why would I send an Apple Gift Card to a Stranger?"
They won't be a stranger to you by the time they ask.
The Scammer will attach themselves to you
as a Lover or Friend.
5# PROOF OF LIFE
Don't trust selfies from a Scammer.
They are stolen pictures off of the internet.
6# NEW SCAM - BITCOIN
The Scammer I encountered, sent me money (probably stolen) and had me convert it to bitcoin. Then I sent it back to his wallet. This happened three times. The first time and the last time failed (Thank God!) but the second time succeeded to my shame.
Bitcoin will recognize it as a scam, so there is some safety.
The scammer had me try several times, until it worked the next day.
7# BANK ACCOUNT
A Scammer will offer to "Zelle" you money. Which sounds great, but they will ask for access to the account. A No Brainer, I know. Everyone knows: Don't give access to your account to a stranger! The Scammer will not be a stranger by the time they ask. I almost gave Fake Morgan access because my account was in the negative. I thought: What hard could it do? I have no money!
The harm it can do:
SS Number
Physical Address
Answers to security questions
God SAVED me though my Bank's security measures.
In the end, trust God, and trust your "Spidey" instincts.
My instincts were SCREAMING Scammer,
but the selfies said safe.
I even text yelled at Fake Morgan for being a scammer toward the end of the first day.
Then I apologized when he played the Victim.
